Becoming a Prayer Chaplain

What is a Prayer Chaplain?

A Prayer Chaplain is trained to provide pastoral care for the Unity Temple on the Plaza church community. Prayer support is provided by creating and holding spiritual space through lovingly listening to a prayer request and then praying from the heart space with the one who has made the request. Most importantly, a Prayer Chaplain holds a prayer request in confidence.

Prayer Chaplains make a one-year commitment to fulfilling their responsibilities. These responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Serving at services monthly (available for one-on-one prayer following services)
  • Two hours of wellness calling per month
  • Attending one two-hour Chaplain Meeting per month
  • Attending Yearly off- and on-site training
  • Other opportunities of service as they may arise.
