Waking Up White and Finding Myself in the Story of Race

This 5-week class, based on the book Waking Up White: And Finding Myself in the Story of Race, provides the opportunity for courageous conversations on white privilege, white superiority, racism, racial tensions, stereotypes, biases, tolerance, and manners. The study offers techniques to foster inclusiveness, diversity, and community.

Reverend Rich Carlini is an ordained Unity minister and currently serves the Unity congregation in Davis, CA.  Rich is also the senior minister of an alternative ministry, Transform Myself Inc., A Unity Ministry. Now, Rich is a co-host of The Healing Power of Grief, on Unity Online Radio. He teaches Ministry at the End-of-Life for both UWSI and UUMS. Reverend Rich also serves as a chaplain for the West Central Unity Region. He has been a registered nurse for over 40 years, 25 of them in hospice and palliative care.


Rev. Sandra Campbell, MSM, has been a member of Unity Temple on the Plaza since 1980, where she served three terms on the Board of Directors, co-founded the Temple Toastmasters Club, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Chancel Choir. Sandra completed ministerial training through Unity Urban Ministerial School in 2012 and was licensed and ordained by Unity Worldwide Ministries in 2013. Sandra currently serves as an Associate Minister at Unity Temple on the Plaza. She leads the Sunday morning Metaphysical Bible Interpretation class and the Mid-Week service on Wednesday evenings. She is Vice-President of the UUMS Board of Directors and a member of the school’s Adjunct Faculty. Sandra has taught various Unity courses, including Metaphysical Interpretation of Christian Scriptures, Spiritual Economics, Discover the Power Within You, Lessons in Truth, Prosperity Plus, and many others. In addition to the ministry, Sandra is an Adjunct Professor with Webster University.
