All proceeds benefit 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, in honor of Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. The foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children.
This 90 minute concert will highlight the music of Maceo Pinkard, Jay McShann, Buck Clayton, Louis Jordan, Duke Ellington, Mamie Watts, Ben Kynard, Nat Adderley, Frank Foster, Charlie Parker, Ahmad Alaadeen, Hank Mobley, Joe Sample, Gamble & Huff, George V Johnson Jr, Bobby Watson, and poet Glenn North.
This upbeat, non-stop production will also feature 21st century compositions by members of the cast, trombonist Jason Goudeau, and vocalist Angela Hagenbach.
The 19-piece City Light Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of pianist Angela Ward, is full of excellent soloists. Three vocalists tell the story of the noted composers and will swing the audience through 100 years of music in a scant 90 minutes.
