Join us in building a Gilda's Club right here in Kansas City THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 21, 2010!
The mission of Gilda’s Club is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community. Gilda's Club provides a meeting place where men, women and children living with cancer, along with their families and friends, join with others to build emotional and social support as a supplement to medical care.
Free of charge and non-profit, Gilda's Club offers support and networking groups, lectures, workshops and social events in a non-residential, homelike setting. Gilda’s Club Kansas City joins a network of clubhouses and Wellness Communities across North America guided by the Cancer Support Community, which shares best practices, spreads innovation, and imparts the lessons learned in order to continually improve the Gilda’s Club program. Each clubhouse is a separate entity, and all funds raised locally, stay locally.
The clubhouse is in the refurbishing stage and will be located near the Temple at 21 W. 43rd Street. As a new charity partner of Unity Temple, we are excited to introduce the membership to the services GCKC will offer. WE WILL HAVE A SPECIAL VOLUNTEER WORKDAY THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 21ST, FROM 8 AM - NOON. Call, email or signup with Christine at christine@unitytemple.com or 816-561-4466 X109.. The Unity Temple Harvesters meet the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 9 am - 11 am

Join us for an opportunity to help hungry children by putting together snack packs! We meet at Harvesters, 3801 Topping Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64129. Join us in helping feed the hungry at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2nd Saturdays of each month
Next volunteer opportunity: Saturday, September 11, 2010, 9 am - 11:30 am (meet at Unity Temple at 8:30 am to carpool)
Join us Saturday morning to help serve meals at St. Paul's Church, located at 1300 North 18th Street in Kansas City, Kansas. The serving and cleanup will take until 11:30 am, when we'll return to Unity Temple. Then, for anyone wanting to join in, we'll have lunch at Blanc Burgers next to Unity Temple.
