Deepening Practice, Saturday, December 29, 2018, 9:00am - 1:00pm, Charles Fillmore Chapel. As this month's last Saturday of the month (12/29) falls right between two major holidays, we've come up with a plan to offer you the SILENCE you crave, without the teachers and leaders having to work on preparing lessons over winter holiday season.

A Silent Retreat!

Charles Fillmore Chapel will be transformed, into a place for you, regardless of how long you sit, to come and just be. Breathe with us. Contemplate with us. Let go, decompress, breathe again, and prepare for the new year with some extended time in deep silence.

Again, come for 10 minutes, one hour, or FOUR! For some it may be a compelling challenge to go into silence for 4 continuous hours. If that sounds like you, maybe this retreat is just what will enrich your practice as you head into the New Year!

Love offering gratefully accepted. No-one turned away!

Engaging Mindfulness Meditation Practice Group, Saturday, January 12, 2019, 9:30am - 12:30pm, Classroom C. This is a unique meditation group, in that we also practice dialogue during our time together. This is a unique meditation group, in that we also practice dialogue during our time together. Not “social dialogue” where you may or may not click with the person(s) you speak with, or you might want to have the right thing to say. Meditative dialogue: Between silent meditation and the speed we move and speak of our every day world is a place we can practice meditative dialogue. Meditative dialogue might be explained as a grounded awareness where we can practice using speech, yet what we actually say isn’t important.  What is important is our awareness, what we noticed, what we chose to speak and what we didn’t.  This dialogue has nothing to do with a story we have been telling our friends.  Each moment may be different.  It is about experience.

As the listener, we practice bringing ourselves back to awareness and listening without an agenda.  We are so used to listening to offer advice, reassurance, empathy, teaching, etc…these are all agendas. Listening is one of the greatest gifts we can offer another person, and we cannot fully listen with and agenda. What I have noticed after being in dialogue with others is a comfortable closeness even if I don’t know much about them and after practicing dialogue in a monthly group, I remember again how I want to listen more closely, and how I want to slow down and connect with myself and others while I am speaking.

As with most groups, we practice silent meditation, have a dharma topic, and have time as a group to debrief and ask questions.

If you have any questions feel free to call Lori @ 816-516-2200. Lori is a meditation student, Unity Minister, Nonviolent Communication Trainer, and supports others on their journeys. This group meets monthly on the 2nd Saturday.

All meditation levels welcome. No prior experience necessary. Come experience connection as part of your meditation experience.
