Volunteer at St. Paul's Food Pantry, Saturday, May 25, 2013, 9:00am - 12:30pm. We have a NEW opportunity to volunteer in our community. We currently "help serve meals" monthly on the 2nd Saturday. We are looking for volunteers to help in the food pantry on the 4th Saturday of each month. The pantry operates from 9 am until 12:30 pm and opens to our neighbors at 10:00 am. From 9:00 until the doors open it is a scramble to unload the van from Episcopal Community Services and stock the shelves for our Neighbors. We need a few people in the “breakdown” room to repackage bulk items such as sugar, flour, and cooking oil into smaller containers. We also need a few people to package USDA commodities into shopping bags for our Neighbors.

After our Neighbors come in, we need people for the following tasks:

· Assisting our neighbors in shopping.

· Attending the produce section.

· Check in Neighbors (involves checking ID and pulling/filing records)

· Processing applications for new Neighbors**

· Processing Neighbors in the computer using the Mid America Assistance Coalition online data base**

**These tasks require being computer literate, training and applying for a MAAC user name and password.

A few volunteers are also needed to help close at the end of the day, i.e., sweep, put away supplies and groceries, and prepare untaken bread perishable items for pickup by other people who distribute them.

The only pre-requisites for our volunteers are a heart for helping our Neighbors and a willingness to have fun doing it.

The pantry is located at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1300 North 18th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66102. Go to the back of the church, the pantry is across from the red door downstairs in the basement.
